Nationally recognized comedian Paul Lyons asked me to design a book of essays he'd been writing over the years. He presented a simple image of a black and white life preserver. A series of subsequent conversations and inquiry about the book and review of several essays lead to expanding upon the whimsical life preserver concept. Headline typography was chosen for it's juxtaposition of humor and gothic. Interior of the book carries the life preserver graphic as an iconic chapter header. Typesetting is open with lots of space to promote a quick and easy read.
